Granite is formed by solidification of liquid magma (molten rock) under the pressure of the earth's crust. It is composed of Quartz, Mica and other minerals, making it one of the hardest stones in the world, with a very close grain. It has been used for building and decorative purposes for centuries, but has become a favourite in homes across the country over the last few years.
Granite is an excellent choice for all countertops especially kitchen tops.
  1. Next to diamond, sapphire, and ruby, granite is the hardest natural product on the earth. Once polished, natural granite will maintain its high gloss virtually forever
  2. Beautiful – Granite is heat resistant, making it much safer than synthetic surfaces with polyesters and resins. It is also stain, chip, crack, and scratch resistant and comes in many colour schemes. Granite stone does not clash with anything, but instead reflects its surroundings, in fact, it is just plain spectacular
  3. Long lasting high quality – Kitchen tops must be hard wearing; granite will keep its beauty for generations and will never need to be replaced
  4. Adds property value – It is the only surface that retains 100% of its value. You can rest assured that money spent on granite is well spent.
We can give you a cost estimate, but we like to take actual measurements of the intended coverage area for a precise price so there are no surprises later on in the process.
No. Granite fabrication is a specialised trade that requires extensive training and practice in order to produce high-quality results - not to mention the expensive diamond tooling and equipment. We employs fabricators and installers with years of training and experience in installing granite kitchen tops. Even a small vanity countertop can weigh heavily, so safe handling is another concern that you need not worry about when buying from us. When you choose Mr Granite you are guaranteed professional results from the initial template through fabrication and final installation.
Most granite installations will require at least one or more joints called seams. During layout and design, we will always try to minimise the number of seams required. Additionally, when seams are necessary, we will locate them in areas of less traffic to minimise their appearance. Finally, our fabricators are trained to provide the tightest seams possible and to match colour and design. The method used minimises the appearance of the visible seams.
We have a bone yard with a variety of remnants to choose from for small jobs.
Mr Granite is a highly trained and licensed contractor for granite countertops, but we are not licensed plumbers. Therefore, we cannot assume any liability for making plumbing connections, and advise you to have a qualified plumber do this for you.
Yes, we will ensure that your sink is safely and professionally installed and ready for your plumber.
Even though granite is a highly dense material it has the possibility of being stained if a spill is not cleaned quickly. Sealing the granite surface, especially kitchen tops, with an oil-based sealant is therefore recommended to protect it from water patches and stains. Sealing can be done once a year or once every two years depending on the usage of the surface.
We accept cheques and credit cards, however there is a 5% service charge added to credit card orders.
We ask that you pay for half of the job cost up front, before we start cutting the granite. We require the balance at the time of installation.
